SayPBS Design Academy is one of the most dynamic Animation and VFX academy in the country. Therefore our Games Technology students are taught to be concerned with the movement in computer graphic imagery including characters, inanimate objects such as robots or cars, or camera for television, feature films, or games. They are trained to design complex graphics and animation using judgement, creativity, and computer equipment.

Furthermore, our students are able to make objects or characters appear life-like by manipulating light, colour, texture, shadow, and transparency, or manipulating static images to give the illusion of motion.

They are also able to receive direction and willingness to address comments and make changes, have the ability to deliver on schedule, working under pressure if required, and use logic and reasoning to indentify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, and make conclusions or approaches to problems.

First Year Games Technology Components

Students are introduced to games and motion design disciplines, historical influences and the theories, principles and processes of motion design with a focus on typography principles of games and animations, moving image narrative and production technique.


Second Year Games Technology Components

Classes focus on developing creative and technical solutions in response to games and motion design briefs through self-directed practice.







Learning support


When you join the programme, you will be assigned a personal tutor who will provide personal support throughout the course.

Modular by Distance Learning

In addition, each module has a designated moderator who co-ordinates the course activities, discussion and advice to help you with the organisation of your work, including information on assessment, study skills and recommended reading. While working through the module materials you will be able to interact with your personal tutor and your fellow students through module-specific activities.

Flexibility

We have multiple start dates throughout the year so you have the option of choosing when to commence your studies with us. You can study at home, in your own time and at your own pace, so you can combine achieving a qualification with other commitments. Once you completed 7 core semesters, you will be awarded with Foundation Degree of Games Technology.

Aesthetic judgement


As in traditional cinematography, the lighting determines the visual look of a film using light and colour to tell the viewer what to see and how to feel. Therefore our Games Technology students are trained to ensure there is consistency in lighting, colour balanced and mood between the various elements of a shot or scene.

They emphasise drama or narrative, and establish and clarify location, weather, and time of day by using their technical skill and aesthetic judgement in order to create images that not only look good but are easy to render.

Whatever software is applicable


Our Games Technology students digitally build objects for manipulation in a 3D environment and these could be models of characters both cartoon and realistic, natural shapes like animals and plants, or solid objects like buildings and cars.

They have the ability to create 3D models using whatever software is applicable, and is able to produce an accurate translation of the reference and meet the creative requirement of the production designer and client because they are trained to have a good understanding of modelling with polygons or nurbs.
